Beyond the Stage

Our Commitment
Since 1926, musicians in our community have been performing, teaching and sharing music under the auspices of this Orchestra. The legacy of this work creates a solid foundation on which we continue to build. During the past several years, your involvement and generosity have made it possible for the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra to move beyond the stage and join with key community partners in providing meaningful musical experiences during every stage of life. From an introduction to music through an instrument petting zoo to the comfort of music in a healthcare setting, these recurring experiences provided by small groups of PSO’s professional musicians foster encouragement, joy and connections in key moments.
Serving Our Schools and Students
PSO musicians work with our public school, private school and homeschool partners in Escambia, Santa Rosa County and Okaloosa counties to bring musical performance, education and instruction to students in elementary school through high school. Musicians provide music education experiences, on-site sectionals, master classes, lessons, and mentorship to the students in their learning environments.
Serving Children & Families in Hospitalization & Treatment
Waiting room experiences and in-patient hospital stays can be stressful for children, families and care staff. With our partners at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care Pensacola and Studer Family Children’s Hospital Ascension Sacred Heart, musicians from the orchestra lead interactive performances and share hands-on experiences with music. PSO musicians also spend time at the Sacred Heart and West Florida Hospital locations of Covenant Care Hospice, playing soothing music in shared areas to bring comfort to patients, families and staff.
Serving Our Community
Our musicians work with partners throughout the greater Pensacola community where people live, work and play to bring the joy of music to as many as we can. With a variety of interactive musical moments, creatively non-traditional performances, hands-on experiences with musical instruments, educational offerings and more, our musicians create moments of inspiration and community connection. Some of these partners include Artel Gallery, Azalea Trace, HCA Florida West Hospital and West Florida Public Libraries and many others.
