About the Performance

What does it mean to have a uniquely American voice in a European art form? Join us as we explore the contributions of a diverse range of American composers with selections from Duke Ellington’s balletic The River, the adventurous themes of Aaron Copland’s Billy the Kid and Amy Beach’s “Gaelic” Symphony, the first symphony written and published by a female American composer.

Interested in learning more about the program? At 6:30 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the Saenger Theatre, we will host a conversation featuring Music Director Peter Rubardt and Advisory Council Member Jonathan Thompson. All ticket holders are welcome to attend to hear more about the featured composers and music.
