About the Performance

Join us for a working dress rehearsal of the Beethoven & Blue Jeans program. The orchestra will work to polish each piece, with adjustments to nuance, balance, and blend. Many pieces will be played in their entirety, and certain sections will be retouched with starts and stops. General admission tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door, by phone at 850.435.2533, or online at PensacolaSymphony.com.

The program includes the Overture to Leonore No. 3, one of four overtures that Beethoven wrote for his sole opera Leonore (later revised as Fidelio). Once described as “the most perfect drama in itself,” the overture is a potent musical embodiment of a noble passion. Classical guitarist Jason Vieaux joins the orchestra for Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, celebrated for its lush Spanish rhythms and color. The program also includes Bedřich Smetana’s The Moldau, Alberto Ginastera’s Dances from Estancia, and more.
