About the Performance

The season culminates with a monumental performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The orchestra will be joined by four vocal soloists, along with the Hattiesburg Choral Union and The Choral Society of Pensacola for the transcendent beauty and immense power of this beloved masterpiece. From its mysterious opening to the exhilarating and triumphant finale, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is a powerful journey through struggle, hope, and ultimate joy. The iconic “Ode to Joy” finale remains one of the most inspiring and recognizable moments in classical music, proclaiming a timeless message.

The concert will also feature side-by-side performances of Franz Schubert’s Overture to Rosamunde and Mikhail Glinka’s Overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila by PSO musicians with student musicians from the Pensacola Symphony Youth Orchestra.
