Peter Rubardt
Elissa Lee Koljonen, Violin
Saenger Theatre
Join us for a working dress rehearsal of the Opening Night program. The orchestra will work to polish each piece, with adjustments to nuance, balance, and blend. Many pieces will be played in their entirety, and certain sections will be retouched with starts and stops. General admission tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door, by phone at 850.435.2533, or online at PensacolaSymphony.com. Doors will open at 1 p.m.
The program includes the vibrant energy of Antonín Dvořák’s Carnival Overture, a dazzling celebration of joy and lyricism. Violinist Elissa Lee Koljonen returns for the soaring melodies of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, one of the most beloved in the repertoire. The intensity deepens with Medea’s Meditation and Dance of Vengeance and Maurice Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2, “not only Ravel’s best work, but one of the most beautiful products in all French music.”
