Peter Rubardt
Mark Kosower, Cello
Mingyao Zhao, Cello
Saenger Theatre
Join us for a working dress rehearsal of the Rubardt Conducts Brahms program. The orchestra will work to polish each piece, with adjustments to nuance, balance, and blend. Many pieces will be played in their entirety, and certain sections will be retouched with starts and stops. General admission tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door, by phone at 850.435.2533, or online at PensacolaSymphony.com.
The program includes the dark intensity and sweeping emotion of Robert Schumann’s Manfred Overture, a gripping musical portrayal inspired by Lord Byron’s poem of guilt, morality, and the human condition. Principal Cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra Mark Kosower returns with Principal Cellist of the Canton Symphony Mingyao Zhao, for a special performance of Northwest Florida composer David Ott’s Concerto for Two Cellos. The program also includes the monumental grandeur of Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, a masterpiece of soaring melodies, powerful drama, and hard-won triumph.
